About Dr. Eugene Cheng

Dr. Eugene Cheng, DPM, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained podiatrist. His areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, conservative (non-surgical) and surgical care of: diabetic foot care, wound care, bunions, hammertoes, neuromas, soft tissue lesions, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, sports-related injuries to the foot and ankle, fractures, dislocations, ankle arthroscopy, reconstructive surgery for flatfoot or cavus (high arched) foot, and Charcot reconstruction.

Dr. Cheng was raised in Seattle, WA, where he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology-Physiology at the University of Washington. He went to Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, OH, and obtained a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine (DPM). Dr. Cheng then completed a 4-year Podiatric surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, where he trained in conjunction with world-renowned podiatric surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, and plastic surgeons. Afterwards, he completed a 1-year fellowship focusing on sports medicine of the foot and ankle at the Specialty Surgical Center in Irvine, CA.

Dr. Cheng is a double-board certified physician by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He holds both Foot Surgery and Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery certification with ABFAS, which is recognized as the gold standard for foot and ankle Podiatric surgeons. He is passionate about evidence-based medicine and has had work published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (JFAS). In his spare time, he thoroughly enjoys exploring the outdoors and hiking, playing sports such as tennis and softball, spending time with his family and friends, traveling to different countries, and living vicariously as a “foodie”.
