About Dr. Priyal Patel
Dr. Priyal Patel is a podiatric surgeon whose career bridges translational research and clinical medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology, with a concentration in Pathology, from Drexel University. From 2016 to 2019, she conducted research at the University of Pennsylvania, developing nanoparticle-based therapeutics for sepsis, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and other inflammatory conditions – work that resulted in publications in Nature Communications and Nature Nanotechnology, as well as a patent. She has since published over 15 papers and authored two textbooks. She went on to complete her podiatric medical education at Temple University, graduating at the top of her class in 2023, followed by a residency in podiatric surgery and medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her clinical training spanned limb salvage, adult and pediatric foot and ankle trauma, Charcot reconstruction, and elective forefoot and midfoot surgery, with additional expertise in minimally invasive techniques, including minimally invasive approaches to Charcot reconstruction and bunionectomies. During her residency, Dr. Patel developed an original medical invention that has since received backing from Yale Ventures. She completed her residency in 2026 and continues to advance both her clinical practice and her work at the intersection of innovation and patient care.

An enthusiastic home cook, she has traveled to take cooking classes around the world, including learning to make pasta by hand from a Nonna in Rome.
