About Dr. Gerardo Alcantara
Dr. Alcantara earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from The University of Chicago. Following graduation, he spent a year performing research at the Institute of Genomics and Systems Biology at The University of Chicago, studying differences in protein quantities between normal and cancerous tissue. He then went on to earn his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Alcantara completed a three-year surgical and clinical residency at Catholic Health Systems – Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, New York, earning an added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. During his final year, he served as chief resident, further honing his clinical and leadership skills. His areas of focus include sports medicine, diabetic wound care, and limb salvage.
Outside of the office, Dr. Alcantara enjoys an active and well-rounded lifestyle. He is passionate about soccer, both watching and playing, and loves spending time outdoors hiking and relaxing at the beach. In his downtime, he enjoys watching movies and is currently learning to play the guitar.
