About Jamila Way
Jamila Way, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, is a dynamic Family Nurse Practitioner and clinical strategist whose 30 years in healthcare blend deep clinical expertise with a creative, people-centered leadership style. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Missouri (DNP), University of Florida (MSN), and AdventHealth University (BSN), and is widely recognized at Upperline Health for designing Athena EMR encounter plans. She holds the distinction of seeing the very first patient when the practice launched—an origin story she carries with humor and pride. Her background in pediatric critical care sharpens her telehealth assessment lens, enabling her to anticipate patient needs and champion proactive health maintenance.
Jamila leads interdisciplinary teams, develops engaging clinical content, and serves as Leader on both the Personal Wellness Review Pilot Team and the Encounter Planning Team. Her areas of expertise include family medicine, diabetes management, EMR optimization, quality improvement, and regulatory readiness. As an APRN mentor and clinical documentation expert, she has shaped providers across settings—from academic classrooms to value-based care organizations—translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable workflows.
Outside of her demanding professional life, Jamila pours her heart into volunteer health service through Shepherd’s Hope, Zambia Mission, and Remote Area Medical. She recharges through book club gatherings, community involvement, travel adventures, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family cats.
