Wendy McClain, DPM

Dr. Wendy McClain was born and raised in the Pickwick Lake area of Counce, Tennessee. Drawn to medicine from a young age, she excelled academically—earning honors in high school in Savannah, Tennessee, and graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. She went on to earn her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2007.

Dr. McClain completed a three-year medical and surgical residency in upstate New York, where she was recognized with the Outstanding Resident Award. Following her training, she joined an orthopedic and sports medicine practice on the Tennessee-Mississippi border—an area she fondly calls “Tennessippi.” Over the next 12 years, she developed a practice focused on both medical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions. She later continued her work at an Indian Health Services hospital and in middle Tennessee, bringing expert, compassionate care to every community she served.

Dr. McClain is double board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (in both Foot Surgery and Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery) and also by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Podiatric Medicine, as well as a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association.

Her specialties include ankle sprains, tendinitis, nerve decompression, neuromas, heel pain, bone spurs, plantar fasciitis, gout, bunions, fractures, arthritis, and sports-related injuries, among many others.

Outside of medicine, Dr. McClain finds balance and joy in nature. She loves hiking with her standard poodle and exploring Tennessee’s scenic trails on horseback.
